To me, Beauty is more than just a number, it is more than a dress size- Beauty begins from the inside out, and is reflected from the depths of your soul to the sparkle in your eyes...
Now, it’s time to show the world what’s inside.

At the end of the day, you must face the mirror... if you cannot own your actions, and be true to yourself, none of this is worth it.

Love is love is love is love

Born in London,  Hazel grew up with a very diverse background, living between the USA, the Bahamas and the United Kingdom, all between birth and the age of 15. Raised by her mom, a concert pianist, and step dad, Grover Mitchell, leader of the Count Basie Orchestra, entertainment was in her blooood.

She was quickly labelled a child musical prodigy, specifically due to her piano skills, and one of the first things her mother recognized was when Hazel heard the phone ring to 'notes' at a young age, and ran to the piano playing the exact pitches.  She had not received any lessons yet other than being shown where A-G was, at that point by her teacher, the Count. Her mother quickly enrolled her in formal instruction, as her mother  saw she had a gift. The only issue was that sight reading took a back seat to the learning process, as everyone quickly capitalized on the 'freakish' and 'peculiar' way in which she learned.  She could listen to something once and almost play back entire pieces perfectly.  Soooon, she was playing Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu at the age of 5 and 6, yet not reading a note, simply using only her ear.  it was deemed that she had perfect pitch. At that point she was represented by a Miami agent and the family now relocated from the Bahamas to South Florida.  She also gained work as a young actress and model. She began playing with the Palm Beach Symphony, and became the face of various children's products, and appeared in several kids fashion campaigns, modeling in several fashion shows all before the age of 8.  She was a 'look a like' for the actress, Shirley Temple, at the time, and her bright personality and charm added to her cute looks.  While she longed to be in the spotlight, the demands of music practice and production opportunities outweighed her chance of truly 'being a kid,' and the one regret she has is truly never just being able to let go, and be one.  Additionally, friends took a back seat, and it was difficult for her to even have time to be with children her own age, so Hazel felt very alone.

She enjoyed the stage, and aspired to become a concert pianist and an actress, and was very serious in her training at both.  However, the pressure was great.  She was pushed academically to keep between two to three years ahead in her studies,  which was a lot of pressure to maintain. In the long run, this was a good thing, as it did eventually allow her to go to university before the age of sixteen, but sometimes, you just want to be a kid.

Before turning nine, she was offered a chance to study intensely back home in England,  in a program geared towards these arts, and so at just eight, she was enrolled in a fine arts intense, very academically challenging boarding school in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. (Harrogate Ladies' College)

It was here where she focused her studies on intense academics, theater and music.  This landed her a chance to later train and star with the professional theater group, RSC of London, where she  played the role of Juliet, in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet,  both in London and Paris stages (bilingually).  While in theater, she was discovered to be a strong singer, and began training classically.  She worked her vocal techniques to transfer from stage work to arias, to motets and later sang at Notre Dame, Sacre Couer, Lincoln Cathedral, Southwark Minster,  Westminster Abbey and for the BBC Radio.  Performing and being in front of a camera was always in her blood.  She loved to act, and perhaps it was an outlet for her to escape the day to day....perhaps it was her one moment to just let go, and 'be a kid,' after all.

As she grew up, she came into her own unique look, and finally was not compared to anyone else.  Her eyes became the feature everyone focused on,  her hair became less curly, and she finally was not the littlest one in the class, as she began to get taller.  As she grew into her own kind of  beauty,  she became her own person.  Now, she was no longer the Shirley Temple look a like, but truly herself.  While she always loved fashion, makeup and designs, the modeling and desire from within her to be a part of this industry now took off.

Having done modeling from age 3, she had no reservations in working the camera, or an audience.  Fashion was art, and the world was a stage.  She began to model for young adult boutiques on Worth Avenue, Palm Beach, and Manalapan, and quickly became a 'Via girl.'  She began this job during her vacations from school.  This meant she had to walk the avenue, selling her outfits just by the way she carried herself, walked and talked, at just the age of 9 or 10 to the strolling avenue shoppers.  Soon she was doing fashion shows and was often at the Manalapan Ritz hotel on the runway on weekends, as a child, promoting the latest brands as a child model.

As she neared puberty, she realized she was going to be a curvier girl, naturally, and Hazel Luna struggled to keep up with  the runway look that was the demand of the industry.  She could not identify with the rail thin look of the other fashion models.  She began to seek acceptance in modeling in the plus line for teen and young adult.  While at the time it was only just becoming popular, she pioneered some of the first looks domestically and internationally as a model in local fashion shows and stood for beauty being more than just a dress size.  At the time, she already was not your average girl, being so artistic, and in a different place academically.  She knew what it already meant to feel 'different,' and  wanted to encourage others to find their 'true beauty,'  Having struggled with her own body and self esteem issues, she wanted other girls to see themselves in the mirror as beautiful, and not as heavy when they simply had curves.  Hazel had endured the dangers of eating disorders, struggling with anorexia and bulimia as a teen, and she knew the havoc that those disorders can play with a young teen's body and mind.  She knew how it can effect your self image, and she was aware of body dysmorphia.  The mission she began then, is one that she still carries through today in her work- to help  ALL women see that beauty is not about a dress size or a number, it is about being your own kind of beautiful, and embracing your curves!

Now, Hazel is blessed to travel all around the world modeling independently. She took a stand for herself, and was determined to not change she was to model.  Now, look at the change and growth that plus size modeling has had in the fashion industry!

Now she is the face of several domestic and also international companies, modeling women's outerwear, dressy apparel, accessories, winter gear, jewelry, cosmetics, and plus lingerie. She also represents several international fashion houses, and is beginning to branch out domestically, recently gaining a contract with an online sunglass company.  Between her print ads, in store publications, and presence in fashion shows and promotional showcases, Hazel is making her mark.

She has helped women and young girls of all sizes and ethnicities realize that they are not any different or any less because they have curves, or 'so called' flaws- they are real women- and their own kind of beautiful.

She strives to be a role 'model' to young adults- someone that is relatable, not perfect, yet beautifully confident in WHO she is, and someone who can love the skin she is in.

Imperfectly perfect..... Every one's kind of role 'MODEL.'

I want to be known by my words and my actions, not just by my outfits or fashions. At the end of the day, clothes are cast aside, but the impact I can hopefully make, can last a lifetime for someone...
